Fred Davies was also a good signing when Scoular was losing faith in Bob Wilson (this wrankled with our TOBW perhaps). Wilson’s howler against Hamburg when Davies was ineligible was the final nail in the coffin. Although, to be fair, we may never have reached the semi final without Wilson’s heroics, the Combination to the ECWC was a huge leap.
