After some promising preseason games the real thing starts Saturday. It will be interesting to see what team Bulut puts out. Only Chambers and Willock of the new signings are likely to start, with the injuries, particularly to Collins and Davies likely to give him a headache or two.
    My guess;
    Horvath
    Ng
    Chambers
    Goutas
    ODowda
    Ramsey
    Siopis
    Ralls
    Willock
    Meite
    Robinson

Would it surprise you if Meite starts upfront? And Robinson on the bench.

    No it wouldn't.
Toss up for me between Robbo and Tanner. I would prefer Robbo, but knowing the manager he may see things differently.

Oh god. We’re here again. The Great Start. The start of the season. The start of losing games and hope.

I’m ready to be hurt all over again.

    COME ON CITY!!!!

It looks like they’re about to beat Sheff Wed to signing Ugbo and their fans seem happy about it. They want him.

    I don’t.

I wouldn’t be happy with Ugbo.

Therefore our team is of a higher quality than theirs.

Therefore we will win this game 2 - 1.

Looking at comparitive values on transfermarkt - which is almost meaningless but I'm doing it anyway:

Our squad is valued at €52.75 million whereas Sunderland is valued as €91.03 million - and are the 4th highest rated squad in the division.
That disparity is driven largely by a small number of high value players 12-15m in value (that we just don't have)

    Patterson the goalkeeper
    Jobe Bellingham
    Jack CLarke

That is a strong looking side , I would have Colwill start instead of Miete.

Is it time yet? Still only Tuesday?!?!

I hope he starts Robinson upfront but it will probably be Meite who did quite well against Bristol Rovers but did nothing in 38 appearances last season.

Will be interesting to see which CB misses out. How can McGuinness have a 10m valuation and sit on the bench?

Saturday can’t come soon enough. Can’t bloody wait

Looking forward to it, optimistic but not 100% confident, the new players aren't match-fit ready and we may be trying out some new tactics, which may take a few weeks to cement, still it will be good to be watching and talking about football again!

Not sure what the first team will be either for the first time in quite a while, it was mostly picking itself bar injuries at the end of last season.

    I'll take a nice one-nil win!

get the impression that opportunities for the young players will be slim pickings again - unless we have signed them from the premier league

I definitely would have Colwill in the starting 11. I'm a bit concerned we haven't got a new striker starting the first game of the season for us. We need to hit the ground running as we have Sunderland H, Burnley A, Swansea A as out 1st three games. Lose all of those those and a lot of people will be calling for Bulut's head.

Yes, I've said that lose the first two imagine the pressure at Swansea away!

I don't think it could happen, but we all know just a few things go wrong and it could, especially in the first few games with some new players and trying new tactics.
