Apparently Gary Lineker will stop presenting MOTD at the end of this season and leave the BBC at the end of the 2026 season. I wonder if Alex Scott will replace him, especially as Jermaine Jenas, who was favourite to replace him, is out of the picture.

Meh. If it’s going to be a female I’d rather it was a broadcaster that’s earned her stripes like Yorath, Dalglishes daughter or Natalie Sawyer and not some fast tracked ex female footballer.
Laura Woods is a good call if they are looking for a revamp. Would be pleased if Jason Mohammed did. Gabby is an excellent presenter, not sure she has the “banter” they maybe looking for,

He was doing the Sat lunchtime preview prog when the main Grandstand prog was being broadcast from Aintree for the Grand National. There was a bomb scare at Aintree, he had to do the whole afternoon prog "off the cuff", didn't foul it up, so got fast-tracked to bigger things.

I think I can answer that one. He was a really famous and popular footballer who quickly proved to be really good at presenting TV programmes.
Remember when Jeff Stelling quit Soccer Saturday in 2023? All the talk then was about how Sky were going ‘woke’, Stelling was going to be replaced by a woman and the panel would be full of women, etc.
Never happened. His replacement was a bloke who’s absolutely ****ing useless, while the panel is as male-dominated as it was when he left.
