What's this "appointing a new manager" business all about then?

New manager bounce just as we play them - great.

Fair play to likes of lampard and Rooney.

Good to see them keep putting themselves out there to be shot at after they keep failing.

Would be easy to sit in the warm comfy studios get well paid and just lazily slag everyone else off like keane neville carragher shearer et al do. They talk as if they have all the answers but they have no credibility as can't walk the walk.

I don't particularly like lampard or Rooney but best of luck to them.

I think he'll fail again and call it a day, but he gave it a go. Both decent enough blokes, and top players, they've probably earned the right to give it a good go.

    Absolutely.

Fail harder until you make it.

If they have even really failed in a world where 99.9% managers get sacked at least once.

To be fair to Roy Keane he did have two stints as club manager (two years each at Sunderland and Ipswich) so he has walked the walk, even if he tripped up at the end and found his home in a warm comfy studio.

What has Lampard done to deserve taking over from Mark Robbins? Ridiculous. I'd take Robins over him any day. Let's hope we do it.

It's bizarre that so many clubs think an ex-England international star is just the right person to save their club - despite their evident limited ability at managing football clubs.

Saying all that, I bet Lampard sinks our rudderless ship.

Funny old game as they say. The likes of old Frankie boy, Rooney, Gerrard etc, absolute legends of their playing career and highly regarded - managerial wise not so much however.
But as others have said, at least they are giving it a go and getting stuck in, not sat in a studio tickling each others balls.
For a time I did think Frank was going to end up here, its the type of name I thought our loons at the helm would go for.

Aside from Pep and Zidane, I can't really think of any legendary players who have gone on to be successful managers in the last 20 years so it must be a tough gig transitioning over.
