Match Facts:
Cardiff City are unbeaten in their last four league games against Bristol City (W3 D1), keeping three clean sheets in that time.
After winning on three successive trips to Cardiff in the league between November 2019 and August 2021, Bristol City have lost on their last two visits in the league.
Cardiff are unbeaten in their last four home league games (W2 D2); the Bluebirds last enjoyed a longer run in October 2023 (6 games – W5 D1).
Following successive away league wins over Preston (3-1) and Norwich (2-0), Bristol City are without an away league win in their last eight games (D4 L4); their longest run since February 2022 (11 games).
Cardiff’s Callum Robinson has scored more Championship goals against Bristol City than any other side (5), though is yet to score in his two previous league games for the Bluebirds against the Robins.
Rumours that Robertson's injured - you've guessed it - his hamstring.
Cant afford to have Fish and Goutas play with each other again after yesterday, Chambers should slot back in if Daland isnt fit or failing that put Ng at centre back.
I know that Chambers didn't cover himself in glory whilst playing centre-back, however, I think he'll have regained confidence from his stint in midfield, and might make a better fist of central defence this time around as a result.
BTW: What were people's thoughts on Mannsverk? - I thought he created space for himself and took up good positions, but I was a bit disappointed by his under/over hit passing. Surprising really, when you consider his parent club is renowned for this aspect of the game.
We miss Ollie Tanner, our only genuine pace.
There will have to be changes, with a tighter defence, more attacking midfield and pace and strength in attack. A change at goalie as well.
Bristol home is a different game from Portsmouth away.
I'm sure we can find a completely different way to lose this one
The main issue other than our coaching staff is defence.
The thought of Chambers going back there shows how bad we are actually are for options.
Ng has to come in. Other than that we are struggling whoever we pick for the 2 CB positions.
I just hope they are told to get rid of the ball as quickly as possible away from our goal.
After some thought today, I'd go as follows.
Alnwick (thin ice though)
Ng (rino needs a rest)
Goutas
Daland
O'Dowda
Mannsverk
Chambers
El Ghazi
Ramsey
Alves
Robinson
If Daland is unavailable then Chambers to CB and Ralls in with Mannsverk. This is must win by any means necessary, we have to score first and not chase the game.
Very very nervy 2-1 win I'll go for.
After the Portsmouth shitshow I am not sure where our next win is coming from.
We are clearly fragile in the middle of defence and the 2 signings are just not ready for the physicality of the Championship. This is meaning we have to score at least 2 to win.
It was a mistake not replacing Riza weeks ago, as I believe a decent experienced manager would have improved the defence.
Anyway, we are where we are. Bristol are a decent Championship side, in good form at the moment. I struggle to see us winning.
2-1 Bristol
On the opposite side of the coin, we've had 2 decent unbeaten runs this season, punctuated by spells of total shittery. Bristol lost to a poor Swansea side recently, one we thrashed 3-0.
At the moment, a win makes us think we can beat anyone; a defeat makes us think we won't win again. Riza is doing a good job (maybe) if we win; he was never suitable for the job if we lose.
Got to say even by our reactionary fanbases track record last night's reaction is getting jarring. It's one isolated game, I don't understand this at all. It was a bad performance, against a similar standard team though they do have a good record at home.
It's like everyone has forgotten we went on a decent run for an entire month. 2 losses in a row including one to be expected isn't panic stations. Less than 3 from the next two is.
I think you are being unfair on. Bagan who has been decent last couple of games. In fact I would playing centre back if Daland still out, with ODowda rb.
There is no pace in your midfield. Massive loss if, as suspected, Robertson out.
We will need all the pace we can muster uptop so I agree Alves starts.
He plays on right with ODowda offering pace on left.
As Bristol are pretty physical I wonder if we can squeeze in Salech? No point playing long ball if just Robbo up top.
It was Leeds, just move on from it. We were pretty much always going to lose, can point to the manner of the defeat but ultimately we lost to nil as expected.
Last nights result will mean more if we lose saturday, but until then, panicking is pointless. We win saturday and everyone will be back to saying we'll be fine.
Double post, apologies.
We're 7th favourite to go down with Skybet for what it's worth.
We need to get Salech into the team and hope he is able to hold the ball and win balls in the air.
That defence is a disaster playing from the back and they need to get rid of it as quickly as possible.
Ng comes back in but I really don't know what we do with the cb positions as all options appear hopeless.
We really have to play on the front foot from the off and attack and press.
Recent form last six games, Bristol and Plymouth in quite good form, they won't be easy, but games we need to win to push up.

Derby, Luton Swansea, Watford and surprisingly Boro are in terrible form.
