Thread: Any You Tube experts on here?

Any You Tube experts on here?

I’ve got a You Tube Premium account with my tablet and television the two enabled devices. This morning when I tried to watch You Tube on my telly, I was prompted to scan a code on the TV screen and sign in for some reason and since then any video I watch has adverts in it.
Is there anyone on here who knows how I can correct this or can put me in touch with someone who can? Or will I have to cancel Premium and then join it again?

Check on your tablet on your YT account settings that you still have premium.

Then check also on the account on your tv and confirm the account on the TV is the right email and that it hasn't linked another non premium email.

If all right I'd sign out of the account on the TV and sign back in manually if possible.

Beyond that the good old power off and back on again.

Click on the account icon on the screen, check you're logged into YouTube premium and not an older account.

It's excellent on my phone, no ads even on YouTube. Also use it for YouTube music without ads, not as feature rich as something like Spotify but I find it useful.

Thanks for the replies. I’ve spent all afternoon trying to sort it out and missed the under 21 game as a result (so, it’s not been a complete waste of time). I’ve cancelled my original Premium subscription and taken out a new one, hopefully on the devices I want to be on.

OK just looked it up, fine on PC on the TV or firestick you have to try and download and go through the browser?

Yes, the Brave browser is designed with a built-in feature called Brave Shields that blocks ads and trackers, including most ads on YouTube, by default.

    ️ Ad-Blocking on YouTube
Built-in Functionality: Brave's core functionality includes ad-blocking, meaning you don't typically need to install separate extensions to block YouTube ads. It's meant to work "right out of the box."

Ongoing Battle: However, it's important to know that YouTube and ad-blocker developers are in an ongoing technical conflict. YouTube frequently updates its platform to detect and bypass ad-blockers, including Brave's Shields.

Intermittent Issues: Because of this "dueling developers" situation, users occasionally report that Brave temporarily stops blocking YouTube ads. The Brave development team typically releases updates to fix these issues when they arise, often requiring users to ensure their Brave Ad Block Updater component is up-to-date in the browser settings.

In short, Brave is intended to and generally does block YouTube ads, but temporary setbacks can occur due to YouTube's efforts to counter ad-blocking.

You can watch How To Block YouTube Ads in Brave Browser on Windows 11 or 10 to see a guide on using Brave's ad-blocking features on a PC.

This is a useful extension for skipping past in-video sponsor adverts. Viewers contribute and log where the advert plays for the good of others not having to watch it!
