I like it here
City
Good fishing
West wales just down the road
Close to the sea
Nice scenery
Bridgend
Could do with some decent live music venues though
I enjoyed living in bradford but it was bloody cold in the winter
I think if pushed I would choose Bristol
Live in London. Elsewhere from here, Berlin.
Cornwall preferably Falmouth area.
Abroad would be Berlin
I traveled and worked abroad a fair bit after Uni.
2 seasons in camp america with 6 months US road trip in between.
3 months in Edmonton and Banff Canada
1 month in Thailand + 1 month France
ski season in Italy (3 months) and another ski season in Andorra.
And like you Sludge as a fellow Bridgend(ian) I have always enjoyed coming back home, on a sunny day I walk through the fields to Ogmore stepping stones and along the river, or I go play a local golf course and I struggle to think of anywhere nicer I have ever been. I have always said if we had better weather Wales would be the best country in the world.
I do however have desires to live abroad if a career / finances ever allowed it, in Europe 4 months on a ski resort and 8 months in Majorca would be nice.
In the USA If I was wealthy Santa Barbra would be great, can drive into LA, San Fran, Lake Tahoe and Yosemite all within half a day.
Also I have never been, but I have friends in Austin, Texas and they love it, might go visit soon as I believe it is a place I could enjoy.
Done so much fishing on the ogmore river , great memories
Also eagle records
Nights out at the courthouse
Bertorellis the fruit and veg shop
The Jungle cd shop , metal galore
Olympic Kebab House
Saved by the wonderful medical team at princess of wales when I had severe pneumonia
I like bridgend
Lanzarote (sun all the year round), or somewhere on the Spanish coast just north of Almeria. The older I get, the more I am getting to detest our winters
If this country, somewhere around St Austell or Falmouth
Lived in London for a fair few years now, can’t really see myself moving on unless for work reasons or to head out to the countryside/sunnier climes.
In many ways it’s a sort of sister city but I’ve spent a lot of time in Paris over the years (once or twice a year for a number of years now), could easily see myself living there and would be very happy to.
Debated moving to Amsterdam last year but my partner’s job offer fell through.
I’d love to see what it’s like to live in Japan, city or countryside.
Spent a fair amount of time, decadently, in Berlin many moons ago and liked it there.
I always thought I’d move back to Wales at some point, either around Cardiff or in the countryside somewhere, but the older I get the pull has diminished.
Berlin.
Lived there for 6 years, my son was born there, love the city, love the people!
If I have to stay in the UK, Cornwall or West Wales for me, I they can be in a pain the summer because of the tourists but the coastline and colour of the water would make up for it. If going abroad, Cefalonia would be one choice but it doesn’t have year round sun so possibly one of the Canary Islands.
Bishops Stortford sounds really nice.
I would usually say Hong Kong but perhaps not these days, so I am going to say a Greek Island.
Italy, Portugal, France, California, anywhere hot really
Manchester or Berlin
France or Italy, away from the bigger cities.
Catalonia
Byron bay, Barcelona or Sydney
I've visited some places that look like they'd offer a lovely lifestyle (Vancouver, Sydney and Oslo spring to mind) but I wouldn't want to move too far away from family.
Live in Cheltenham now which is a nice place to live and within easy reach of South Wales, Cotswolds and London where I'm based a couple of days per week usually. Think we'll either stick around here or return home to Cardiff area at some point. Exciting times innit.
I have been fortunate in that I have lived and worked in some fascinating places all over the world.
To me ,they all have their attractions but London remains the greatest city on the planet but being born there makes me highly biased. However, it is where I consider home.
What I have found is that I am drawn to the countryside/ coast more and more as I get older me I do think that the Vale of Glamorgan/ Llantwit Major has most of what I would want plus a ready made social life, as so many old school friends have returned there in the last few years.
That said , I am married to a Parisian so I fear that is where I will end up.
I’ve worked in Melbourne, Barcelona, Kazakhstan, Singapore and Vietnam and was planning a move to Hong Kong until the protest movement unsettled things too much.
Have semi planned to return to the uk a couple of times in the last few years but I never really made the final decision to up sticks.
As said earlier the ex pat lifestyle and sun are not easy to let go of especially having to deal with the weather in the UK.
I’ve learned a lot about myself and believe I’m far more tolerant of others especially those who hold different views or follow a different religion.
I’ve been following Buddhist teachings for a while and whilst I don’t fully embrace I find meditating and spending thoughtful reflective time in the noisy/quiet of temples very soothing
If I do come back it will be to Cardiff. Maybe get a couple of seasons in before the curtains finally come down.
Love Wales but I’d never move back
Newport
I plan to stay in Dublin. Not sure I want to live anywhere else.
