Re: Colwill, how good can he be?

it wasn't long ago on here people were saying he should have a season at league 1, I'm sure i can even recall someone writing that they thought Joel was the better brother as well.

Let's be honest we've put with quite a lot of shite following the City the last few years.
I want someone in our side to get me out of my seat and Rubin has always had that ability.
I was sick of managers telling us what he couldn't do just let him do what we all know he is capable of.
Has football become so Saline that kids with his talent are being stiffled out of the game for possession stats?

I was one of those suggesting Colwill should go out on loan, but that was only because Bulut obviously wasn’t going to play him regularly and he needs to be playing at this stage of his career. Bulut is sacked and bingo, Colwill is suddenly in the team.

Idiots who don’t know their football from their rugby

At the start of last season I said I think he could have benefited on a loan until that January, still think that would have benefited him hugely rather than being in and out of the team under Bulut. It’s clear a run of games under Riza has helped him, hopefully the more he plays the better he will get.

I recall a certain former manager saying that as well, where's he now?

Joel looks a decent player, but he's not on Rubin's level technically

I've banged the drum for Colwill on here and its great to see him playing with freedom and confidence

If he keeps up this kind of performance, with the goals & assists attached then I think we'd struggle to keep him next summer

My thoughts exactly . I am enjoying watching him knowing he has limited time left at Cardiff.

Bottom half of the premier league at the moment , but he is getting better and better.

Best player I have seen since Lee Tomlin, he is much more mobile .

Not getting picked for Wales is unbelievable. It cant be ability.

I have been disappointed with the gloom doomers trying to disparage yesterdays performance .

I have come to the conclusion some of our posters would rather be wallowing in misery rather than enjoying watching Cardiff .

From what I’ve seen of his progress, if he avoids injury, I’m confident he will end up in this campaigns Championship team of the season.

To be fair it's been about 95 % positive.

    This.

Several have expressed a need not to get carried away over one result, but I haven't seen anything negative. Sometimes it seems that, unless you're dancing around naked with sparklers coming out of your arse then you're being negative.

I've got a work contact who supports Brentford and he said they are looking at him. He said he is the type of player they monitor and improve, and if they are looking other clubs will be. We all know that Ryland at Southampton likes him.

In fact, I'd say the only two past managers he's had who seemed to fully trust him were Mick McCarthy and, for a while, Rob Page, both of whom would not win many popularity contests among City or Wales fans. Riza clearly trusts him and, after holding his career back for a year and more, there were some signs that Bulut had recognised that his best position was a number ten/false nine, but there were still the usual provisos with our not missed at all former manager.

I can see what Craig Bellamy means about Colwill sprinting as it doesn't seem to come naturally to him and, to use a term I hate, his "optics" aren't good in terms of his agility and movement - he often looks like he's struggling.

Colwill's not helped when it comes to international football by the fact Wales have so many of what i'll call attacking midfielders to choose from, but, watching him brush aside (was it a foul?) that Plymouth player yesterday in the build up to the third goal, I think his physicality is now becoming the asset it wasn't before and I'd say his performances this season (especially yesterday when there ware end products to his flair) mean that he has to feature in Welsh senior squads now that the under 21 qualifying phase is over.

As for his club team, he has become indispensable.
Bellamy now states he was embarrassed when he looked back at himself playing as he used to hold onto the ball too long. Working with Kompany has given him the Man City philosophy pass and move and don't hold onto it for too long. Bellamy will improve him as a player, hopefully he gets to play in the next full squad.

If you were doing that you still would be

After Mick's 6 game winning streak I don't think I'll ever trust a manager's potential again but if we win on Tuesday and look good doing it I'll stick a toe in the Riza camp
