Harry Potter books are probably selling more copies than the Bible these days and it hasn't had the advantage of being carried around the world by colonial powers over the centuries and accompanied threats of punishment, banishment, persecution and being consigned to hell if it isn't believed.
By the way, your so-called 'God' is unbelievable inefficient. He can't make himself known to everyone he created and tomes and compendiums assigned to him are incredibly diverse. Muslims, Christians and Jews don't believe in the same compendium and have often vilified or killed those whose other schism may be considered as heretic. It's not even that wasy to find a church these days where Adam and Eve, the talking snake and the Noah story are considered more than just parables. I know this as a good friend of mine is a lay preacher. It's so amusing that your god supposedly created man, but man didn't turn out as well-behaved as he should have and that everyone is born a sinner because of supposed events millenia ago caused by others. The minority of the population of the planet are not Christian despite your god's carrot and stick (hell and heaven) and most of the souls he created will burn for eternity in a fiery hell.
It's a hugely laughable stab at omnipotence.
Almost all religions copy stories from religions that went before them, are unable to persuade the rational mind of non-believers (and due to a lack of evidence) and their dogmas are passed on predominantly by indoctrinating children. Not many eskimos sit down and decide to study all religious options and come up with devoting their lives to Shiva - and not many Autralian aborigines decide to dedicate their lives to Shintoism. The Chinese are not predominantly Christian and the population of Israel (and on both sides of the divide) don't believe in your flavour of Abrahamism. You can bet your boots that the default religion of the vast population of the Earth throughout time is one that believers were introduced to as children.
