Freddie Mercury, Elvis & Tony Hancock all confessed that: “happiness was nowhere to be found”
But John Lennon said 'I am the walrus', and Annie Lennox said 'Sweet dreams are made of this'.

    Think on that, truthpaste!

I think he was parodying Truthpaste's, let's say "imaginative quotes" of deceased rock and comic stars against him.

I realise that - I'm just surprised by his response!

I suspect TP's quotes may not be imaginary though, as the people he names all suffered from depression and drug dependency and probably struggled to find true happiness.

I guess until he unveils his inverted comma's with actual evidence that they made those quotes we will live in suspense. The reason why that has anything to do with Christianity compared with the torments of let's say Caravagggio, Michaelangelo and Leonardo will probably have to wait for a different day!

No no no…I’ve always been one for adventure, I dint want to know what’s around the corner. Chuck a bag in the van and off I go….the best adventures in life are uncertain when you go….do you mean John Lennon? The guy who got it right about the Beatles being far more important than Jesus?

Oh what happened to him? He appears to have disappeared with sgorio fruit at the sametime as their PL status? He was funny, def took a few right wing beatings in the 80’s

Actually may be wrong there. David Urguhart is the interim Archbishop of Canterbury although it seems that Steven Cotterill will take over as senior bishop and carry out the official duties Welby would have done.

If Sludge were around at the moment I'm sure he would be bashing the bishop.

"more popular" were his actual words.

People who mock God puplicly often regret doing so. John then 26, only went on to live for another 19 years.
George Harrison lived to 58 and Ringo and Paul are still around. God is not mocked.

The loving god kills those who mock him?

If God had any compassion for Mankind, Then he'd have Got rid of Ringo first.

And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.

Ironically the UK is too busy running to the next Christmas party to notice.

Lennon said that in 1966 and was shot in 1980. So it looks like God is even quicker moving than you thought for killing well loved singers.

Thanks Lardy; I was obviously more tired than I thought last night, indeed 14 years isn't very long to live when you are just 26. Lennon was very much loved and extremely talented, but neither of those things have any bearing on our dealings with God. In fact many may say that God granted John all that talent and his 'thank you' was to insult the only one who could save Him, God's Gift to Man.

surely the only one who needed to be saved was the gunman.

Or some may say that 14 years seems quite long to wait for punishment, and there are plenty of other famous people who have blasphemed without punishment. In fact, Lennon seems to be the only one. Perhaps he was unlucky.

The Beatles were not mocking the creation you call God. They were mocking (if that is really the right word) the people who slavishly believe in all that nonsense in the face of genuine love and joy for modern culture. It was a daring and provocative thing to say in that place and at that time, but was more a challenge to deep rooted conservatism than a theological argument. A throw away comment that has resonated for nearly 60 years. And still gets under the right skins!

Creation of God! (are you still on that pop?)
Each day, throw away comments cost people their jobs, their relationships and sometimes their lives.
Stick to politics, this isn't your field of knowledge.
