Thread: What stage of Kublar-Ross stages of grief are you on?

Re: What stage of Kublar-Ross stages of grief are you on?

I am wondering if I am bargaining… earlier today I saw Crystal Palace fans drinking before their FA Cup semi (and basically taking over Covent Garden). I was remembering when we beat them in the League Cup semis and were even in the same division as them, and wondering “in an alternative universe.”

I think it’s hitting hard for us because we wouldn’t have predicted this as recently as five years ago, where we looked more likely to be in the Premier League, rather than League One by now. Whereas the Premier League relegations were definitely less of a shock and more expected than unexpected.

I was ok with the premier league relegations. I’d expected to go straight back down. This is different because we were so established in the championship (despite progressively getting worse).

We’re on a downward spiral but if you ask
me a lot our fans don’t remember how hard it is to get back up. Maybe they’re younger and it’s been cup finals and championship football all the way. So they think it’s like a big prem team going down to the championship , just a case of bouncing back.

It’s not. We’re going to finish bottom of an extremely poor championship.

I’m all for optimism but not if it’s blind.

The fire went out in 2012.
