VAR is an abomination
Not going out earlier in an attempt to stop the cross and then allowing a world class player a free hit at the far post is what was costly. I completely understand that Bellamy had to open up during the second half and concede space, but for me, there's no glory in that result and the way the winner came about.
To be fair the corner decision was wrong but it was the kind where errors are often made. Roberts would have been doing well to concede a corner anyway.
I went full Graham Taylor for that 4th goal, we went to sleep.
Hopefully Bellamy will learn from this, still not sure why we started both Rodon & Mepham against a mobile Belgium attack, when Lukaku was the only aerial threat
In fairness that was an incredible effort to come back from 3-0 down. We also had a team of mostly championship players against a team of top league players . We put a huge effort in to equalise and I think it caught up with us at the end , you have to admire the way we fought back into that game .
We are Wales , it will be just as difficult for us away to Khazakstan,
In hindsight, you make some fair observations![]()
In the end we lost. Great comeback but throughout the game we were defensively so poor. Their winner would not have been scored if the officials had given a goal kick instead of a corner. However its the 88th minute and we defended dreadfully. For a start Ben Davies has to run out towards the flank to block the cross. Brennan Johnson fails to track back with De Bruyne. It cost us dear.
Neco Williams was a big miss.

Their winner was a direct result of us going three down, and Bellamy sticking with that open style that had got us level. In a previous post i was critical of the players and the way Belgium got the winning goal, but in fairness, the players had worked so tremendously hard to get back level that there was always going to be tired legs out on the field of play for the final 10-15 minutes, that was a deal struck up by us having no option but to chase the game. When we got the equaliser, maybe Bellamy should have gone flat and defended the draw, but i don't think that he wanted to do that, which i can sort of understand, although getting back to 3-3 and keeping that way would have felt like a win, Although i still believe that Belgium would have nicked a winner, so it's difficult really.
The criticism should be aimed towards the performance for the first 35 minutes that saw us go three goals down. Belgium are a very good side, very quick on the break, even from tight positions, and they allowed defensive players to join the attacking move in the final third, our defensive midfielders were pulled about like a rag doll. If there is any criticism then it has to be how we played during that 35 minutes.
Was very disappointed with not getting a draw last night but have to concede today that Belgium ultimately deserved the 3 points. That second half performance was great to watch but, in reality, was only 25 mins of that game and Belgium stepped back up when needed.
It's a shame that Wales were so poor defensively for the goals ,but at least that was the only area of the pitch where the clear gulf in class between the teams was obvious. Seeing players like Jordan James and Sorba giving those superstars real trouble at times has to give them a massive confidence boost. Should set up the Cardiff game nicely.
Anyone think we should have settled for the draw at 3-3, as that is all we needed for it to be a successful outcome.
