    Joe Cordina..

can't see any posts about his fight tonight so just a quick reminder that after a lengthy hiatus away from boxing Cardiff City fan Joe 'The Welsh Wizard' Cordina will be back in the ring within the hour, on the Catterall/Eubank undercard on DAZN.

dominant display from Joe tonight but the Mexican (Gonzalez) was no slouch, very gutsy performance..

a deserved win plus 10 rounds banked against a tough opponent.

Yep, did what was asked of him.
I hope he can kick on a bit and regain a title.

I know he must have been ring rusty and he basically did what he needed to do but I can't see him ever reaching the heights he's previously reached.
I hope he proves me wrong.

I agree. I think that he's in it for the money now, He's been world champion, 2 time would be nice, but i think that he's looking to cash out, and who can blame anyone in that sport for doing so, they deserve every penny they earn, and more. He looked rusty last night, he didn't need to trade with Gonzalez, and he was caught on quite a few occasions.

he has openly stated that these fights are to "secure his children's future" so at least he's honest about his intentions, however, he has also suggested that he does have his sights on another title but as you say I believe at 33 he is now past his best, the lighter weight groups require speed and agility which is greatly affected by age, 33 as a heavyweight is prime, 33 as a lightweight is elderly, even accounting for 'ring rust' I didn't see any signs of the Cordina that exchanged with Rakhimov a little over two years ago and took the win.

we shall see, one thing for sure is that he'll be in line for a lot tougher opponents than he faced last night in the next couple of fights.

And weight cutting when a boxer gets into their thirties, i wonder what his 'Walk around' weight is, because he was boiling down. I hope that he gets another shot and earns as much as he possibly can, it's a brutal sport in every respect.
