So Plymouth Woods through to St Fagans, Trelai, Birdie's Lane, The Regent, Grand Avenue, Ely Bridge, Victoria Park were all in walking / bike distance.

Town on the bus for Empire Pool, Sasparilla, Wimpy, Spillers, a platform ticket at Cardiff General/Central (can't remember when it changed).

School at St Francis then Mostyn.

Often ended up playing football off Heol Trelai on the park opposite The Highfields. That was a long haul home when it got dark and cold.

Our house in Archer Rd had an outside toilet (we had one inside as well in the upstairs bathroom).
I went to the Church School at the bottom of Archer Rd and my Mum still attends the church. I’m a defector and heading to hell.

Mostly playing football in the street or down Sevenoaks, or playing runout / mob around Grangetown. Playing basketball in grange gardens (low rim you could dunk) or the Marl for the full size hops.

In the summer we would jump off Boseys (not sure of spelling) down channel view into the mouth of the Taff. There are apartments there now. Or we'd jump off the black railway bridge we called Soapys, into the river Ely. Used to go to Splash in the empire pool, and fly off the top board. I dived off fourth board, but only jumped off top.

Riding bikes up to Castle Coch on the taff trail, and jumping in the taff at blackweir on the way.

Conkers, marbles, pogs, swapping stickers. We would graffiti with hair dye spray, that would usually wash off when it rained. Although the black spray would last a bit longer.

    Good times.
