I'm not so sure about that. As things stand, I can quite easily see Labour, Your Party, Tories and Reform getting an equal share of the vote. It will be interesting.

Starmer isn't the only thing wrong with Labour, so if he did fold, I can't see it fixing all their issues.

At present reform are on 30 percent ...that may give them a small majority but if not DEFINITELY make them the biggest party in a hung parliament and therefore the right to try and form a government

That will clearly be with the Tories because even if they are only say 15 percent that gives a workable majority

    Scary

The other parties are poncing about here and are walking blindfolded into being cut adrift

Either form an electoral pact and stand on an anti reform platform and make deals afterwards or labour will clearly need to get starmer put in a siberian prison and get a leader in who can at least pull a few votes into the middle

These are the only two options

Another left wing party , labour voters going liberal etc are just going to hand farage the big job

In Wales Labour are in such a bad way I think only voting Plaid will possibly stop reform ....I am going to be voting tactically to keep farage out , independent , green , Plaid even tory if it meant for now he was stopped

The Labour Party need to grow some bollocks NOW and start the process of getting starmer replaced, I havnt met one fellow labour voter who thinks he has any positives at all , its absolutely desperate out there ...if local activists want him gone then its clear the voting public wont back him

Blair , even after his ego driven appalling attack on Iraq still had a element of support and carried an election ...Starmer cant carry a bag of shopping without dropping it and breaking all the eggs

Re: New Party on the Left

Zack Polanski, the Green party leadership candidate, has said he may be willing to cooperate with a new leftwing party led by Jeremy Corbyn and Zarah Sultana, after calls for the two groups to form an alliance.

Polanski emphasised that any decision would be for Green members, and would depend on the eventual form of the as yet unnamed party, which currently does not officially exist.

His comments to the Guardian open up a divide with his competitors for the leadership, Adrian Ramsay and Ellie Chowns, who have warned against the Greens becoming “a Jeremy Corbyn support act”.

A day after Corbyn and Sultana jointly launched a website for people to register interest, with the interim title of Your Party, a leftwing campaign group called for it to seek a formal alliance with the Greens in England and Wales.

We Deserve Better, which argues for electoral pacts on the left, said a united ticket for the Greens and the new party had the potential to unseat dozens of Labour MPs, whereas both running could split the vote.

Polanski, the Greens’ deputy leader, has built his push for the leadership around the idea of making the party a mass-membership “eco-populism” organisation that could take on not only Labour but also Reform UK.

Somebody please tell me the "Your Party" name is only a temporary placeholder. I'd personally prefer "The People's Party"

Up to 250,000 now. I’d love their membership number to go above Labour’s - Starmer’s mob deserves that.

    It is a temporary name.

A permanent (and hopefully better) name will be decided by the members of the new party - maybe at the founding conference which is being organised.

Sadly the chances of Party McPartyface are going south!

Probably just people making an observation that a quarter of a million people have signed up to a far-left party set up by an old war horse kicked out of his last party for racism, that has no name and even less policies? Seems a reasonable thing to not overly excited about.

I thought you didn't make things up, James. Seems I was wrong about that!

    What did happen then?

    https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-65102128

But my wider point was hundreds of thousands of people signing up for something with no name and no policies.

    Bit odd 🤣

It is the beginning of a process. It indicates the level of support for a radical party of the left. It may collapse. It may become odd. But not yet - and it may succeed.

Bit of a statement on how the two main parties are perceived these days I’d say. People are desperate for something different from Conservatives and Labour. As for your allegations of so called racism, all sorts of decent, ordinary people (even inciuding thousands of Jews) are labelled “anti Semitic” because they recognise what Netanyahu’s Israel is doing in Gaza for what it is. There is a need for a new party on the left for all sorts of reasons, not least of them being that the traditional party of the left is increasingly out of touch with what the country is thinking when it comes to Gaza.

Still, if three hundred thousand people signed up for something without a name or policies in an area of politics not to your liking you would definitely be making references to koolaid!

Ah,that's okay then! Not my allegations!

I do agree there is a need for a party firmly on the left, representing a segment of public opinion, as there is in most countries 👍

My point was that anti Semitism, like racism, is a charge which gets thrown about too easily these days. I’ve never been that big a fan of Corbyn, but I’ve never thought of him as a racist and I’m not going to start doing it because Starmer’s Labour says he is.

Well, they’re halfway towards the party with the lead in the opinion polls with the no policies bit - although I’m not being fair there, Reform does have one policy.
