Def time to hang up the boots.

I’m sure once would be enough for me to call it a day.
Hope he recovers quickly and then retires.

Def time to hang up the boots.
Definitely got to call it a day, hope he recovers fully tho.
Like me,he has an ICD (Implanted Cardioverter Defibrillator) inserted due to having a Cardiac Arrest.
It is not a pacemaker (the article uses both names) but Defibrillators can carry out the same functions as a pacemaker by regulating the heart rhythm but also shocks the heart back into beating after being stopped by a Cardiac Arrest, which a pacemaker cannot do.
I have had mine for nearly 4 years now. Touch wood mine has not gone off but it is linked wirelessly to a monitor next to my bed which sends information to the hospital so they can monitor what is happening to your heart.
I have been called in a couple of times when there has been any cause for concern, but as I said, my ICD has never actually had to give me a shock which apparently is like being kicked in the chest! You can sometimes feel unwell after.
I obviously had a shock from an external defibrillator when I collapsed, but I cannot remember it. Actually it took 3 attempts.
His ICD presumably gave him a shock.
