Actually, that was probably their best performance of the season, but, in saying that, they never looked like winning and, in a way, the pressure was off the later batsmen because they were never going to chase down that total after getting off to such a slow start. Joe Clarke is a far, far better player than he's showed for the Welsh Fire, but he's not coped with the pressure of being such a big money signing and that price tag has, I feel, meant he could not be dropped even though his performances have probably merited it (in saying that, there's a case for saying every specialist batsman in the team should be dropped with the exception of Duckett - and he's not been that good). If you're not going to drop Clarke, I think it's time for him to move down the order and mad as it may seem in this format, they may as well put an out and out pinch hitter (Critchley?) in as an opener because the first power play is killing them at the moment.Originally Posted by billy.ronson
