Re: Mary Earps
You understand the concept of impartiality Bob, don't pretend to be stupid!Originally posted by the other bob wilson View PostShe not saying what a great job her husband did, I don’t think he’s mentioned is he? What she is saying is that a bunch of sad, mainly old, men appear to have a problem with a woman footballer being elected as Sports Personality of the Year and they struggle to explain why that should be when asked to do so.
She's deflecting the main point that the BBC Sports Personality of the Year (who her husband works for) has lost the plot and viewers and will go the same way as their top sports quiz, not watched and then scrapped at some point.

I understand you’re desperate to make a point that has got nothing to do with the subject of this thread. It’s not the BBC that has lost the plot here.Originally posted by North Cardiff Blue View PostYou understand the concept of impartiality Bob, don't pretend to be stupid!

Impartial
Someone who is impartial is not directly involved in a particular situation and is therefore able to give a fair opinion or decision about it.

And there was me thinking that the result was decided by a public vote, not a BBC director who specialises in “distribution and business development”.Originally posted by North Cardiff Blue View PostOK I overestimated you :xmashehe:

Just what is your point? Are you saying that the BBC fiddled the vote, those who voted for Mary Earps are idiots or there’s no way a woman footballer should win such an award?

I'm saying someone posted an un-impartial link to a leftie Guardian columnist who is married to a BBC director, so that view should be ignored, it's not rocket science, now go and write your report from that fantastic Christmas Bonus Smash and grab win, and I give you my permission to use that heading

That was a post about impartiality?
I'm not misogynist because I thought they may have been better female or male sports personalities.

If we're force fed it the way we have been then that may change but its shyte and no amount of woke wankers on here will change that.Originally posted by North Cardiff Blue View PostGood luck to her, but women's Football is not fully supported and watched that much yet, (compared to other sports) probably about ten years too early, there have got to be more worthy winners.

Re: Mary Earps
That a BBC Directors wife won't write an impartial account of the criticism of the BBC Sports Personality of the Years award????Originally posted by the other bob wilson View PostI ask again, what point are you trying to make? It’s a simple enough question.
It's like asking you who is the best Rishi or Drippy, if anyone were daft enough to take your view as gospel then they would be stupid because you have a massive bias.

Re: Mary Earps
So, it’s a “massive bias” to accept the outcome of a public vote? You and others like you are turning a sporting popularity contest into a political argument - I make it that Mary Earps is the sixteenth women to win the award - why weren’t the gammons getting so worked up about the previous fifteen (a woman footballer won it last year as well)?Originally posted by North Cardiff Blue View PostThat a BBC Directors wife won't write an impartial account of the criticism of the BBC Sports Personality of the Years award????

Resorting to childish attempts at insults, although I am not angry in the slightest, you sound it :xmashehe:Originally posted by the other bob wilson View PostSo, it’s a “massive bias” to accept the outcome of a public vote? I've never said women shouldn't win it, from past memories every one probably deserved it and I had heard of them, I just didn't know who Mary Earps was or the one last year that completely passed me by, not sure who she was either.
If she won it's great I'm happy for her, people that like that sort of thing voted great, I just don't know her and think the programme has changed format which is what the post was about?

Re: Mary Earps
Her article really isn't about the BBC though, so that's largely irrelevant. The SPOTY could be hosted by ITV or Channel 4, and the ridiculous response would be the same in my opinion. Earps is quite a big character, a bit 'gobby' on the pitch, and I reckon that winds up a few men. Did other women or men achieve more in the year, probably, but so what, she certainly also achieved a fair amount and is a great advert for women's football. Maybe, just maybe, loads of young girls voted for her in what a public decided competition?Originally posted by North Cardiff Blue View PostThat a BBC Directors wife won't write an impartial account of the criticism of the BBC Sports Personality of the Years award????
