I might be wrong here, but looking back through the archives, it appears that there's only been 2 occasions where we've been in the relegation zone with 3 games to go and survived (1976/77 and 1977/78). If this is wrong, I would appreciate this being corrected. Given that we've suffered 13 relegations in our history, it suggests we've never really been a club with a history of "last day" survivals.

In 1977/78 we were level on points with 2 sides above us having played one game fewer than one of them, and even had 2 games in hand over Bristol Rovers, who were 2 points above us.

Things were a bit tighter in 1976/77, being a point adrift with 3 games to go. We won our next fixture and went into the last game against Carlisle knowing a draw would keep us up, which we got. Carlisle would be relegated.

While we're at it, we've got 3 games to go and probably need 2 wins. We've won our last 3 games of the season on only 2 occasions before (1951/52 and 2019/20). We've won 2 of our last 3 on 9 other occasions but only once to ensure survival.
