I agree with you Billy.
Never understand the knobhead who takes four cans from the local shop when you could stroll into Tesco and walk out with a crate.
I'm not trivialising shoplifting either as it is a massive problem for small and independent shop owners.
I don't think there's too many real deterrents for shoplifting? I'd say there's an actual disregard by some towards the victims of shoplifting and it's always been seen by some as 'fair game'.
Anecdotal tale to tell but once did a few stints of Community Service, the amount of shoplifters on the shifts were aplenty. All basically felt they wouldn't
receive a custodial sentence and that was nearly 30 years ago.
As I'm on a policy roll, how about the cat o' nine tails for shoplifting from a small trader?
