Is Bony gony?
We're gonna miss that song :(
Back to 12k crowds soon.Originally Posted by bryndon2 wrote on Mon, 12 January 2015 23:14
Foruntately our style doesn't rely on one player. And that £ for Wilf will come in handy.Originally Posted by Steve R wrote on Mon, 12 January 2015 23:18
Remind me again how long you lot have been telling us we'll be bust next year.Originally Posted by bryndon2 wrote on Tue, 13 January 2015 00:15
Spurs and Liverpool didn't really capitalise on the windfall that they received from the sales of Bale and Suarez, maybe Monk will do better, assuming he actually is trusted with the cash?Originally Posted by bryndon2 wrote on Tue, 13 January 2015 00:15
What are your thoughts about your style of play? I read that you're not living up to the "Swansea way" under Monk.Originally Posted by bryndon2 wrote on Tue, 13 January 2015 00:15
I will be interested to see who replaces Bony. Having that kind of cash helps and they have a good track record... big test for Monk.Originally Posted by surge wrote on Tue, 13 January 2015 09:42
I imagine huw has already chosen his new aventador
We already have a replacement for Bony we bought him last summer when it was believed Wilf would leave for 19 million.Originally Posted by AfricanBluebird wrote on Tue, 13 January 2015 10:10
Not really a laughing matter, the money they are getting for him is substantial, this sale is a good thing for the jacks.
Bale and Suarez were last minute deals weren't they? Close to the end of the transfer season, so they had to make desperate bids for players. Swansea have weeks to find a replacement for a good price.Originally Posted by ROBERTO MARONI wrote on Tue, 13 January 2015 09:37
Spurs had been buying players all summer knowing Bale would go, so the last minute thing really doesn't apply to that deal.Originally Posted by Barry Dragon wrote on Tue, 13 January 2015 10:40
We had his replacement in the summer, we just waited 6 months & gained an additional 8/9 million.Originally Posted by TruBlue wrote on Tue, 13 January 2015 10:43
If what you are saying is correct though, and I'm not doubting you, why are you happy about the sale. I get that it is good money, and excellent business by the club, but from a fans point of view if he's going not to be replaced I'd be gutted.Originally Posted by pencoedjack wrote on Tue, 13 January 2015 10:54
As for Bonys replacement I assume you are eluding to Gomis? Another excellent striker but you'll need another one for sure.Originally Posted by [quote title=pencoedjack wrote on Tue, 13 January 2015 10:24
But he has been replaced .... We have to be realistic it is highly unlikely that we are going to keep hold of the top scoring striker in the PL in 2014 decent bit of business IMO. I am not totally convinced on Gomis but time will tell I guess.Originally Posted by TruBlue wrote on Tue, 13 January 2015 11:01
Excellent player Bony-another case of your Chairman looking to consolidate the club in the Premier League rather than go for the glory of Europe. Can't say I blame him-your only worry is the sell out clause Gomis has in his contract if that is to be believed.A snip at that price from what I have seen and he is not a happy lad at the moment.Monk has some sweet talking to do.Originally Posted by pencoedjack wrote on Tue, 13 January 2015 10:54
Glad you hope he fails, as you probably can guess I cant say I'm hoping Slade gets Championship manager of the year.Originally Posted by [quote title=AfricanBluebird wrote on Tue, 13 January 2015 11:11
I might go against the grain but sweet talking is the last thing I would do ... I'd give him a kick up the arse & tell him to go out & earn the high wages he receives.Originally Posted by GRUMPYS DEN wrote on Tue, 13 January 2015 11:32
I fully understand the club being happy about it, but from a purely fan point of view, you have one less quality player than you had a few weeks ago. I would fully expect the club to invest some of the £25 million they've got on another striker (despite Gomis already being there). Don't you?Originally Posted by pencoedjack wrote on Tue, 13 January 2015 11:31
But I trust Monk/Jenkins to make the right decision.Originally Posted by TruBlue wrote on Tue, 13 January 2015 11:51
I think you may be right, you can trust Jenkins and Monk to do what they think is best by the club.Originally Posted by pencoedjack wrote on Tue, 13 January 2015 11:59
I think your posts points to the difference between how the jacks and us are run. They understand success needs to be built and its not always a forward process, sometimes you need to take a step back to consolidate, ready to move on again. We just want instant success and see nothing else.Originally Posted by TruBlue wrote on Tue, 13 January 2015 11:51
