Truth is he didnt want to come. I travel up and down the M4 lots and there is no more than 60% immigrants at any given time.

Yeah. Nigel Farage couldnt get to a meeting in Port Talbot because the M4 was jammed with immigrants.

When talking casually about these types , I am struck how well they are actually liked, and I suspect most working folk who appear to like them would be ridiculed by these types in the privacy of their south western village pubs, as they puff away on their fat cigars whilst sipping Port.

They manage to present themselves as individual and anti-establishment. They can both be self-depreciating. Clarkson will pop up on QI and take the piss out of himself. Farage (in between fags and pints for the cameras) will present himself as the champion of black and Asian British people!

    Re: Farage , Brand Clarskon

Why would anyone want to vote Tory?

According to the polls of UKIP supporters I have seen - apart from a strong emotional opposition to the EU and most immigration - they want to defend the NHS, re-nationalise the railways, stop private schools posing as charities, punish the bankers and tax evaders, raise the minimum wage, close the wealth and opportunities gap in Britain, and....

UKIP has recognised that and seem to be planning a manifesto that pitches to traditional Labour and Green voters priorities and values. It won't be genuine, but it may well work.

The biggest selling newspaper amongst the English is still The Sun. So I wouldn't be at all surprised that the characters you mention are so popular amongst that lot.

Essex Man and his views are still alive and well amongst little Englanders.

    Farage is a ****though.

He's hardly balanced, is he? He's got a clear agenda that he happily states and his "reports" reflect it.

The splashing sound you can hear is Monkfish swimming furiously away to do some research on any UKIP policies that aren't actually reactionary right wing Thatcherite ones with the aim of turning the clock back 50 years.
Very funny and spot on Plenty of Thatcherites still around soon to reappear as UKIP voters.

I don't think Clarkson is all that bad either, casual racist like Malky, and half the people we all know if we're honest.
I was going to say... balanced!? He's also often clueless outside of anything but his agenda.
