Crawled over the line.

We walked it 8 points clear and lost one game in the last quarter of the season...that one against Peterborough. I really don't know why there are still some fans who rubbish that season, I said at the time on here that there's every chance we won't be winning that division again in our lifetimes.
Anyway, this is about the PL season. When I say didn't go down when the window shut, for me that's what people who say the squad wasn't good enough are saying. That we never had a chance.
But despite barely winning a game from Christmas Day onwards, we were still in with a mathematical shout of staying up after we'd played our 36th game (though we all knew what was coming by then). That squad was good enough to stay up, if only because the bottom half dozen squads in the division were also crap.
I agree on the squad lacking goals and pace, but a couple more wins and a draw somewhere in the season and we'd have stayed up. This is why I say we were 'good' enough to survive - because the rest of the crap teams were very nearly as crap as us.
