Thread: Anyone else think the Ref was a bit swift with the red card ?

If you don't think that was a red you need to read the rules again.

Clean through on goal and pulled back, how could it not be a red?

I just watched the highlights again and he grabs him by the arm, then the shoulder, and he's only about 5-10 yards outside the area with no other defender in sight. It's a red all day long.

There was no complaint from any of the guys team mates and not much of a complaint from the guy himself. He knew it was a red.

The Forest manager agrees it was a sending off. No arguments.

Montanier had no complaints about Lam's sending off, with the defender given a straight red card for dragging down Anthony Pilkington as he looked to break through.

    "It's the rule," he said.

"If your opponent has the opportunity to score and you make a foul, it's a sending off.

"We can't have any excuses. We can't blame the referee or the sending off."

I hate all this shirt pulling glad to see the Refs cracking down on it.Pilkington was through on goal whatelse could the ref do.Mind you Pilks would have missed going on that other effort he had.

I think Tony has had a bit of a mare here, which is weird because most of us can remember his fondness for red.

Hardly dragged him down but he did impede him. Definite red.

    For a start it's biased.

Secondly he stopped the chance, it's doesn't matter he didn't rip him over he slowed him down and stopped the chance.

Long way out for a red, but what the ah, we need a bit of luck going our way.

PS:-- Never in a million years, was that a pen

Off to bed now, ccc's U in da morning
One of the easiest decisions for a red card you will ever see.
He had a couple of goes at Pilks but as others mentioned, no guarantee he'd have scored
The rule is clear, stopped a goalscoring opportunity, last man.

Blue tit living up to his username as usual, if he isn't being a creep with Mrs R or telling unfunny jokes he's being wrong. He's managed to roll all 3 into this thread too.

One of the clearest red cards you will ever see.
