Do more harm than good on average according to this analysis.
This was for MLS, I wonder as you go down the leagues whether the risk:reward is different with differently skilled players?

I think it's probably true. Just from my own experience of playing centre mid at a very low level, it's easier to return a kick from the opposition back towards them than accurately flick to a team mate from your own kick.
