Yes I get the JT factor, and the fact that it's a relatively short distance to travel, but you have to say that's an impressive effort by the Villa fans for a pre season friendly. We'll be lucky if we take 25! You can't deny Villa have a massive fan base to draw on. It's a good job fan base and large transfer fees doesn't always equate to a good team though as Shrewsbury won 2-1!

We had 2600 (+300 wellies) at a non-league ground
25? We had a few hundred there for a pre season, was it last year or year before. Cant remember now. Ground was in middle of nowhere
It's practically a suburb of Birmingham isn't it?? They're just enjoying going to different grounds for a change instead of the same boring dross served up in the libraries of the premier league. Clearly shown by big followings last season.
Relatively close ground, John Terry, drop the Mrs in town for a bit of Prosecco and some shopping, probably the first preseason and families can't go on holiday til next week.
Plenty of factors for a decent following.
