I'm sure you were a great trooper and comedian and deserve all the accolades you got but I'm afraid I didn't find your films funny at all.
The King of Comedy is a very good and serious film but was not a comedy vehicle written specially for him like some of his other films. To me he seems to be a very talented and accomplished stage performer whose talents never really translated to film. I also put Danny Kaye and Norman Wisdom in the same category, they also appeared in many films I did not find funny. I suppose it's all a matter of opinion and personal taste and many will disagree.
