It will soon be overturned
Lots of ways to look at this but Uber's unconvincing guilt trip statement about '40,000 drivers losing their income' just makes me want to vomit. Their future as a company relies on winning the race to fully operational driverless fleets in cities like London which will obviously result in the 40,000 drivers being cast aside.
As someone who does Uber part time, I am very happy being a Uber driver, my income is very fair
Because we live in Cardiff?
No one cares.
We are blessed in Cardiff with ten year old rattling draughty converted vans being driven badly by a guy who speaks hardly any English and has a copy of the Koran in the glove compartment. Give me Uber any time
They are a menace.
they are forcing traditional black cabs off the road.
they pick up from flag-downs on the street which is against the by-laws.
most of the drivers live outside London in places like Peterboro, Cambridge reading and drive into the city with no knowledge of the streets at all. do everything on sat nav.
Whilst using above cannot concentrate on the traffic which is a 100% must in central lLndon and slowdown all the traffic even more crawling while they look at their screens.
Screening, the drivers are not screened properly and there is evidence of sexual abuse and assault by vheir drivers.
they have been found to be driving for up to 24 hours at a go thereby endangering other road users including cyclists, pedestrians and their own passengers.
There is nothing wrong with local London mini cab firms. If the know you and you're a good customer they look after you. I have found Uber to be the worst option every time.
My local tube station doesn't have night tube Basically from the nearest night tube station, I would take Uber home and it would cost around a pint and a bit (in LDN prices)
Guardian has an article from one anonymous Uber driver who suggests they are self-employed and there not allowed holiday or sick pay.....despite the court ruling that this is not the case.
From a consumer point of view, Uber works well in London where the city is so big, but it seems to be the correct decision to have taken away it's licence and if drivers still believe they are self-employed then it's run in a less than clear way.
Praise the Lord for this result.
Anyone who uses that mob is morally corrupt. Who cares about all the sexual assaults, deaths and life changing accidents that they cause as long as u save a few quid eh.
Good riddance and fvck em.
Horrible company.
I smell a security issue, being behind this decesion.
