Which player was the better free kick taker?
Taking into account the ball was heavier in Buchanan's time.
It was hardly a sodden lace-up in Buchanan's day.
No contest. What a stupid comparison.
Buchanan struck a dead ball well but with no finesse. He just banged it.
At least you identified Whitts as one of the best we’ve ever had.
Just off the top of my head - Kav, Nathan Blake and Dave Bennett were far better than Buchanan at every other aspect of the game other than blasting the ball - and if I thought for more than 10 seconds I could probably give a handful more (I’m actually surprised you didn’t pick an Irish player 🤣)
Whitt's very clever dead spot kicker, not only free kicks ,but good corner and penalty taker , scored for the City 85 goals v Johns was 54 both great though
Other than the fact that he scored, the one abiding memeory from that Swansea goal for me was that everyone around me was screaming ‘don’t f***ing shoot’ - perhaps an indication that most times he made a complete balls up of it.
Glad he shot that day though. Would be in my top 5 City memories
Indeed
Whitts by a mile
Whitts - obviously.
Whittingham's free kicks were great but those two corners in the Carling Cup Final which led to Turner's equaliser were perfection.
I only saw Whittingham. However I've never felt so confident of something happening when he was having a free kick apart from maybe koumas.
I can't believe he didn't score a free kick in nearly 200 games seems insane.
