60 years ago today we lost Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and the Big Bopper.
one of my all time favs from that genre of music
A clip from one of the all time great movies 'American Graffiti' and John Milner's take on Buddy Holly's passing. Apologies for the poor quality but it's the only clip on YouTube I could find of his quote

Buddy Holly was a genius.
Didn't really appreciate him till I saw the Buddy Holly Story in the theatre. Astonishing and ground-breaking talent
The very first album I ever bought was 'The Buddy Holly Story' - the first posthumously released compilation album by Buddy Holly and the Crickets. The album was released on February 28, 1959 by the Coral Records less than a month after Holly's death.
Still have it but don't have the means to play it, now. Total classic.
Chantilly Lace is a classic https://binged.it/2DQYrzG
Makes you wonder what other songs he could have written.
Saw a nice post from Dion on Facebook earlier in the week. He was supposed to be on that plane but balked at the cost ($36). His seat went to Richie Valens.
nice to see some posters appreciate the genius of buddy holly
keep a cd in my car and always play a track every week religiously when i drive around
always a bone of contention who was the best from the 50's but to me Chuck Berry was the cream of the crop closely followed by Buddy Holly and Johnny Burnett . Eddie Cochran was up there too
Jerry Allison the drummer is the only one left from the original Crickets. His girl friend's name was Peggy Sue, hence the title of the song. The music still sounds as fresh as it did back in the day. Can't believe it's been 60 years since BH died!
