Thread: Championship Next Season

  1. #1

    Championship Next Season

    Fulham
    Swansea
    Bristol City
4 from Leeds, West Brom, Villa, Middlesbrough & derby

Plus a couple of good sides coming up as well.

    Re: Championship Next Season

    Fulham will be strong
Not worried about Swansea or Bristol
Leeds need to go up this season
Wba team looks strong but them and Villa have the issue that are seen as the strongest teams so I think teams lift their game against them

Derby always look decent but have been fortunate had 2 excellent loan players.

Wasn't expecting to see sheff Utd or Norwich up there this season. Think they will find it very hard next year as don't think any of them are as good as us Fulham or wolves from previous season

    Re: Championship Next Season

If Villa don't get promoted via playoffs they'll romp the Championship next season, another £60M going in, they'll buy their way out. Feel free to bookmark.

I thought they were in trouble with FFP ?

I think we need Villa to go up. West Brom may cut the cloth accordingly if the don't get up. Derby will have the "bottlers" monkey on their back.
Boro are crap. Not sure what direction Fulham will go in.
Swansea will be decent if they keep their squad and Bristol will be there or there abouts in my opinion.

Tim, I've no idea how they're getting around it but the new owner has put 2 lots of £30M in so far this season and will match that in the summer. Rules ?

The rules work over 3 seasons- a £39m loss maximum.

However if you go up then forget it.

Guess that is why so many avoid it.

Money doesn’t guarantee success at that level mind. Look at the 2 who went up

Did I just here them say on Sky that Norwich are planning to spend £20m this summer? Sounds like they are hoping their current squad can step up as they won't be adding too much to it

Sheffield Utd fans saying similar spending..

Wonder if that’s £8m on Madine to start 😂

Norwich have a good chance of staying up from what I've seen of them (little amount).

The Championship will be very strong next year (it's always said this).

Fulham and Villa/West Brom will be the front runners. I think Bielsa will leave Leeds if they don't go up so they will fall away.

Fulham might struggle. Always one surprise team. City will be up there.

The Fulham who beat us would romp away with the Championship. Not sure how many key players they will lose though.

I'm guesing we will at least get to keep Reid and Murphy. Morrisson will be back in his element. A few additions and the right manager, we could have a nice footballing team.

    Re: Championship Next Season

The 'love in' with Fulham continues, despite all the evidence to the contrary. Half their current team won't be there next season either.

    Re: Championship Next Season

    Let's predict:

Will be a harder division than last season.

Fulham and Villa will be the teams to beat.

    Good grief.

Hope Manga stays think he, s great.

MWL is good in this league .

Could we go too a 3 in defence ?

Cunningham is very a good Championship players so is Pelts , Bennett , Ward .

    Keeper situation will be intresting.

Bloddy hell, sort midfield out, get Bryson back ?? get a striker or two and were back and competitive.

I agree with you - the current Fulham team with the attitude they've shown for most of this season would get nowhere in the Championship.

    Re: Championship Next Season

A few posters are quite positive about Cardiff being capable of being in the mix for promotion next season.

I do not share that confidence since many factors still need to play out.

    1. Will Warnock go?
    2. If so who will replace him?
    3. What players other than those known to be leaving will be released or sold?
    4. What type of quality can Cardiff attract to replace outgoing players and strengthen other positions?
    5. How good will other teams strengthen their squads for next season?

One thing many of us can attest to is next season as always in the Championship will be competitive and hard fought. However one thing we do not know is answers to all the above, so it's hard to put a marker on expectations for next season until we know more.

Fair point, but I’d presume the positive amongst us will presume

    1 Yes
    2. N/ A
    3. Very few who we want to keep and those that do will be replaced
    4. Reasonable
    5. Unknown, but probably a mix

Think your answer to no. 1 should be no?

I think there are going to be a few clubs in trouble with FFP.

I think next season is a big opportunity to bounce straight back.

Underwhelmed by any of them. half empty stadium, mediocre football. Seems many have got their wish for us to be a 2nd rate club.
