Cant help feeling the lesser clubs will be disadvantaged.
Carlisle are bringing close to a 1000.
Should be a decent atmosphere. May outnumber City. 🤨
Surely Coxe plays in this one?
Match facts
- This is the first FA Cup meeting between Cardiff City and Carlisle United.
- Cardiff have lost just one of their last 19 matches against Carlisle (W12 D6 L1), though this is their first encounter since March 2001 in a fourth-tier league match.
- Cardiff have won none of their last five home FA Cup matches (D1 L4) since beating League One's Colchester United in January 2015.
- Carlisle United have been eliminated in their last six FA Cup ties against sides in the top two divisions of English football, last going through back in January 1997 against Tranmere Rovers, then of the second tier.
- Cardiff boss Neil Harris has progressed from the FA Cup third round in each of his last three seasons as manager, all with Millwall. However, he has been eliminated in his two ties with League Two opponents (2013-14 against Southend, 2015-16 against Wycombe).
How can you have VAR at some games & not others even though all games are in the same competition ?
Surely all the games should be officiated the same ?
Smithies, Coxe, Bamba, Morrison, Bennett, Bacuna, Vaulks, Paterson, Murphy, Whyte, Ward
Day, Peltier, Nelson, Sang, Bowen, Tomlin, Glatzel
I imagine more youngsters would have played if it weren't for the shambles at QPR
So happy for Coxe to get another game and actually looks a slightly exciting line up.
Also Sang and Bowen on the bench. Hoping they get a game.
If we win and keep a clean sheet, that should be our back 5 next weekend. It won't be, but it should be.
Any information on Sang? I can't find him on the official website in the u23 or u18 squad.
I guess so, frustrating to not see more of the youngsters though.
Trying to work out where Pato is playing
The players who seem to have received the fewest minutes under Harris have been Smithies, Morrison, Patterson, Murphy and Whyte. I guess he wants to see more of them before making any big decisions in January.
Good to see Coxe in what is an otherwise senior side, gives him the best chance to make an impression, however I am not a fan of Jazz Richards counting as a home grown player so if that's going to continue this sort of side should be the aim for every starting line up: one in the side (Jazz) and two on the bench. Otherwise comments made at start of Harris' spell regarding commitment to youth can be called into question.
