It seems to me that the ones that enthuse over Ninian’s atmosphere were the ones that were beefing up the numbers against Hereford, Spurs, Man City, Leeds etc, obviously by the size of the gates they weren’t there in the 2000/3000 crowds against the likes of Rochdale, Darlington, Cambridge, Hartlepool and many, many more. But, again by the size of the gates, it’s most probably those fans that beefed the gates up at Ninian on the odd occasion that are going regularly to CCS due to the improvement in the football quality and then comparing a 20,000 crowd’s atmosphere for a run of the mill league game against the likes of Barnsley to the 20,000 crowd that they were in for a one off giant killing at Ninian against Leeds. And they weren’t there for subsequent league games after their once a season outing. For me it’s very much rose tinted, selective memories.
