( WHO should be held to account and perhaps therd is more to come , thier initial summary of Corvid 19 was weak , its willing (quick ) praise of China and suggesting in January their was little evidence of human to human transmission should be looked at and last week after the Chinese revised its death count the WHO simply praised them instead of criticising them ( why ?? )*

Try and put aside your Trump hatred he has just rmy and has called them out , let's wait and see where this goes hopefully the truth or some form of it will come out ,they certainly gave out some very strange assumptions at the beginning of this outbreak and are still doing it.
I am a bit confused. You added a link saying it highlighted some issues. The link was an article written for some dodgy Canadian right wing site before the virus besmerching the reputations of some of the scientists in the WHO.

I asked you which bit of the article you found most compelling and you pointed me back to your views on the WHO's performance after the article was written and told me to forget the link I asked the question about.

In your original post you mentioned Trump using the WHO as a political deflection tactic and in your response you asked me to set aside my Trump hatred around why he has called out the WHO, all without me mentioning him once or questioning his motives.

I am still bemused why you posted the link in the first place!

The WHO*reported*a "pneumonia of unknown cause" in Wuhan, China.

The health organization advised against restrictions to China: "WHO advises against the application of any travel or trade restrictions on China based on the current information available on this event."

    Jan. 9

The WHO released*a statement*announcing the source of the disease: "Chinese authorities have made a preliminary determination of a novel (or new) coronavirus, identified in a hospitalized person with pneumonia in Wuhan."

It added: "In the coming weeks, more comprehensive information is required to understand the current status and epidemiology of the outbreak, and the clinical picture."

    Jan. 14

WHO officials gave conflicting signals about whether there is human-to-human transmission. At a press conference in Geneva, Maria Van Kerkhove of WHO's emerging diseases unit*told a Reuters reporter:*"From the information that we have it is possible that there is limited human-to-human transmission, potentially among families, but it is very clear right now that we have no sustained human-to-human transmission." However, that same day WHO*tweeted*a different take, stating that "Preliminary investigations conducted by the Chinese authorities have found no clear evidence of human-to-human transmission of the novel*#coronavirus*(2019-nCoV) identified in*#Wuhan,*#China" and also told an NPR reporter that Van Kerkhove had been misunderstood and there was in fact no evidence of human-to-human transmission.

    Jan. 23

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said in a*statement*that it was too early to declare the coronavirus outbreak a public health emergency of international concern. "Make no mistake. This is an emergency in China, but it has not yet become a global health emergency. It may yet become one."

    Jan. 29

Dr. Mike Ryan, head of the WHO's Health Emergencies Programme,*said, "The whole world needs to be on alert now. The whole world needs to take action and be ready for any cases that come from the epicenter or other epicenter that becomes established."

    Feb. 4

At*a WHO briefing, Tedros urged that there be no travel bans. "We reiterate our call to all countries not to impose restrictions that unnecessarily interfere with international travel and trade. Such restrictions can have the effect of increasing fear and stigma, with little public health benefit. ... Where such measures have been implemented, we urge that they are short in duration, proportionate to the public health risks and are reconsidered regularly as the situation evolves."

    Feb. 28

The WHO raises the global risk of the coronavirus from "high" to "very high."

    March 5

In a*WHO briefing, Tedros praised China and the U.S. for taking "the right approach." He said: "After our visit to Beijing and seeing China's approach, and President Xi leading that, and also in the U.S., President Trump himself, and also for regular coordination, designating the vice president. These are the approaches we're saying are the right ones, and these are the approaches we're saying are going to mobilize the whole government."
Did you just copy and paste an article from this Boston media highlighting what the WHO said and how Trump responded and took the time to fillet all the Trump responses out?

Does anybody have any idea what this seemingly random collection of words is supposed to mean? I’ve read it several times and I’m none the wiser.

LOM has tried to explain his alphabet soup approach to posting before - but the explanation was so garbled I couldn't understand a word of it.

I think it is either due to dyslexia; to a life-long infatuation with Stanley Unwin; or the sad but inevitable consequence of spending years as the board's top cheerleader for the inane ramblings of Trump-fan Gluey. Too many Fox News links!

It means they are dodgy that is the thrust , try looking at the overall picture and you can also read the 2020 quotes by the WHO ,which I notice you haven't quoted on .

When it came to swine flu the WHO was criticised in some quarters for what some said was exaggerating the danger at a certain time during that crisis so perhaps they were extra cautious of that this time round.

Do you ever bother to read back to yourself what you've just written before hitting the reply button? The truth is that a significant percentage of your posts are little more than random and often unintelligible collections of words, but maybe that's because you're rushing your replies? If that's not the reason and these contributions actually make sense to you, then perhaps internet message boards aren't the right platform for you.

No goal posts moved. I've commented on your post and it's relevance to the thread. You wanting me to focus on another of your posts is moving "goal posts".

Keeping on topic of the post that I commented on and your response to it - Is every organisation that has a scandal "dodgy" in your opinion? If not, why are the WHO dodgy and not the others?

"try looking at the overall picture"...

    Do you mean this one?

Yes it does have it critics even pre Trump ,

I listened to a debate on the radio on Sunday , they had all political divides on there , they concluded that the organization does need a shake up and the stupid Trump funding decision has simply thrusted that into the debate , you would think as an organisation with a previous history in these problems , they would be better prepared and more precise , apologies for this I copying the quotes form below its from a Liberal magazine called this week :

On 14 January, WHO said: “Preliminary investigations conducted by the Chinese authorities have found no clear evidence of human-to-human transmission of the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) identified in Wuhan, China.”

It wasn’t until a week later, on 22 January, that the organisation released a public statement saying that human-to-human transmission did appear to be taking place in Wuhan.

At the end of January, however, WHO said that travel restrictions were not needed to stop the spread of Covid-19, reports the BBC. The US was one of the countries that ignored that advice and introduced a travel ban the next day.

WHO’s director-general Tedros praised China for its heavy lockdown restrictions, despite WHO experts being allowed into the country to investigate the outbreak only as late as 10 February, when the country already had more than 40,000 cases, says the BBC.

And WHO drew criticism in March for being evasive over Taiwan, which considers itself an independent nation but is ruled by China. Bruce Aylward, WHO assistant director-general, appeared to dodge questions on Taiwan, hanging up the video call.

WHO’s apparent pandering to China has not done the organisation any favours in dispelling ideas that it is constrained by politics and bureaucracy.

By the way I'm not a Trump fan ,just feel these large organisations are open to error , corruption, political point scoring to fit their narrative .

Hope this makes sense I do struggle at times

    No.... you've lost me again.

I think you mean that all peace loving liberals and socialists should warmly welcome not only garbled posts from others, but also the garbled thinking behind those posts - all in the cause of 'inclusiveness'. But I'm probably wrong.... and not very nice!

    What banner?

You seemed to have responded to every post (each one you have identified as being personally insulting) yet gloss over the one where I asked you this question:

Is every organisation that has a scandal "dodgy" in your opinion? If not, why are the WHO dodgy and not the others?

Surely you're not just looking for drama and are actually interested in the debate, right? I mean, you posted the article about a scandal within WHO in January 2019 for us to comment on and now... nothing back from you.

I was forced into using Fox News links because the other sources were unreliable!
