the drums on the original were played by Mark brzezicki.
from
Big country
i'm a big, 'Big Country' fan and never knew that. I met Mark in the Globe a couple of years ago, and he never mentioned it. As a young squaddie when based in the Falklands, I played 'The Crossing' to death. I still get goosebumps when i play Ships and think of Stuart.

Terrible news remember that day well when stuart Adamson took his own life
In a big country dreams stay with you , like a lovers voice across the mountainside

Not true. Nigel Preston plays the drums on She Sells Sanctuary. In fact, it was the last song he recorded with the Cult.
Mark Brzezicki appears in the video as a stand-in because Preston had failed to turn up. That proved to be the last straw for the rest of the band and Preston was subsequently sacked. Brzezicki was then hired to play drums on the seven tracks of the Love album that had yet to be recorded, including the hit singles Rain and Revolution.
I flew up to Glasgow a couple of yrs ago with a few mates to see Big country and the Skids at Barrowland. Still the best music venue in the UK by a mile for me.
Bruce Watson played guitar for both bands, along with his son.
Glasgow has got to be one of the best nights out in Britain. Drink prices are very reasonable.
Also visited King Tuts, which surprisingly looks so small from the outside.
Had a few beers in the Cluther bar as well. The pub which had the helicopter tragedy a few yrs ago.
All in all, an awesome weekend up in Jockland
I don't really think it's aged that well, but, at the time, I thought Steeltown was a superb album.
I always thought Stuart Adamson had star quality, awful that it ended for him in the way it did.
Any members of the Cult ready this would be gutted that it's turned in to a Big Country tribute thread, particularly as the post that first mentioned Big Country was incorrect.
It's OK, though - no members of the Cult will be reading this.
