A song written by Layne staley , the bands lead singer, as he battled his demons with depression and drug abuse
Down in a hole and I dont think that I can be saved
See my heart , I decorate it like a grave
I have been guilty of kicking myself in the teeth
Down in a hole , feeling so low
His voice on the dirt album , which is all about drugs , depression, anxiety and post traumatic stress disorder , is staggering
As is the guitar work
Never mind Alice. How is Emma?
Staley's was a very sad story, we've talked about him before on here. I did a quick summary on his death, and the lead up to it, when Chris Cornell died. A great shame.

That's a great read , again
He was injecting into the veins on his feet at the end
All of the seattle bands had problems with heroin
There is a song called reach down by temple of the dog , a seattle super group , featuring chris Cornell on vocals which is about andrew wood who overdosed . And of course Cornell took his own life
For a lot of people drug use and mental health go hand in hand , most people who have been through rehab say they suffered with mental illness as youngsters and took to drugs because it eased the pain
People like this need help and sure some shun that help and end up in prison or on the streets but understanding and support is what helps society in the long run
Love soundgarden , they reminded me of sabbath meets led zep , both soundgarden and alice in chains were closer to the heavy rock side of things than grunge
