    Justice for George Floyd petition

You guys can sign it in the link. No post/zip code needed.

It is so sad that another person of colour died from police brutality in America. Aren't the police meant to protect the citizens? Instead of using disproportionate force? This should not be happening in the first place but the best thing we can do now is to make those who abuse their powers accountable.

If you’re interested you may want to read about the Jim Crow laws
    https://www.history.com/topics/early.../jim-crow-laws

Although in theory they were abolished in 1965 a number of states still have parts on their statute books. Local law enforcement officers it appears have often gotten away with abusing people of colour under some of the far reaching local societal applications

For a recent example there was a women who called 911 because she as frightened by an African American in Central Park. The question in my mind was why on Earth she considered this to be an appropriate action if there wasn’t some ingrained belief in her white rights.

NYC blue will know more than I.

But the really worrying thing is She’s not alone

The treatment of black men by the police in the big urban centres of the USA, like Minneapolis, is a scandal

If there is one thing in favour for murder, over us life is life or death in America

He's been charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter. Third-degree murder is only defined by law in a few states. In Minnesota it basically means accidental homicide.

    Manslaughter basically then.
I suppose that is about right as I would have thought he hadn't meant to kill the man.

Still a piece of work though and hope they take previous into account.

They both worked security at the El Nuevo Rodeo restaurant/nightclub, which is just down the road from the Minneapolis 3rd Police Precinct.

That's the first thing that his lawyers will go for, that all his previous should be disregarded and that he can't get a fair trial in Minneapolis or St Paul. Next thing, his trial gets moved to a different (ie more white) county and there'll be no people of color on the jury.

He was arrested for passing counterfeit US currency, so unless he has his own printing press this could be connected! George and his killer both worked at the El Nuevo Rodeo restaurant/nightclub.
