All of the truly great 60s bands produced great music whilst off their collective trolley. Off the top of my head: Jefferson Airplane, The Doors, Love, Jimi Hendrix Experience, Traffic, and the Moody Blues. Probs loads I have forgotten here. Also Hawkwind were off their tree on LSD when they produced a lot of their best 70s music.
