An independent Disciplinary Commission, appointed under EFL Regulations, has ruled that Sheffield Wednesday will receive a 12 point deduction for breaching the League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules for the three season reporting period ending with Season 2017/18.
The sporting sanction will take effect in season 2020/21.
The Club was charged in November 2019 and referred to an independent Disciplinary Commission, which conducted a full hearing at the end of June 2020, before finding the Club guilty based on the fact that the Club should not have included profits from the sale of Hillsborough Stadium in the Club’s financial statements for the period ending July 2018.
The Club was found not guilty of a further charge of breaching its duty of utmost good faith to the EFL by deliberately concealing information from the League in respect of filings made in respect of the Profitability and Sustainability Rules.

whens the verdict on derby count due, anybody know?
Why were Wigan penalised THIS season and so relegated......surely the same should apply to Sheff Wed???
Inconsistentcy here Wigan related for going into admin. Surely they could appeal this decision. What's good for one team is good for others
No it is not....the punishments should apply to both clubs (whatever their infringements/situation) IN THE SAME SEASON.
Big club Wednesday, big threat , shame for their fans , some of the best in football
Wednesday may appeal.
Charlton may take legal action to get the points penalty applied in 2019-20 (so they stay up and Wednesday go down).

Chaos!
No need to delete my post. The man OS being an idiot. FFS. Stop over policing the board we're not schoolkids.
Teams that go into administration get deducted points the same season.
The teams that have broken FFP have made appeals. They can't deduct the points the same season.
Why was Wigan's points deduction operative THIS season and Sheff Wed's NEXT season? Hmmm. I think we know the answer to that one.

Won 4 of their last 23 league games, going to have improve massively to stand much chance. Promoted teams must be rubbing their hands, Derby next.
The charges were filed in November, they were found guilty in June and the verdict was delivered before the end of the season as there is still a playoff final yet they are punished next season. How did the EFL manage to come to that conclusion?
The EFL also need to work out the punishment for Sheff Wed and Derby over whether their ground sales were purely to avoid breaching FFP as the clearly sold their grounds to avoid FFP. If they aren't suitably punished then I can see the owners gifting the grounds back to the clubs to resell them to the owners again making a further mockery of FFP.
