It looks pretty manic!
Here is the BBC's report:

Reports say it was a firework factory explosion.
More than one explosion, troubled country , into car bombs, let's hope the deaths are low or zero
holy shit, you aint walking away from that one
Some reports saying it's likely a chemical explosion, likely triggered by the fire which seems to have been storing fireworks. It's in the port area of Beirut which was subject to an exposure of high level corruption by this Lebanese investigative journalist called Riad Kobaissi. It's not too much of a leap to imagine it's the sad result of corruption and mismanagement of dangerous materials.
It was Jeremy Bowen who stated that it was thought to be a firework factory. It now appears to be a store for nitrates (fertiliser??) or some similar explosive.
At least 100 dead now. Old fertiliser (Ammonia Nitrate) stored in bulk
Lebanon was a beautiful country. Beirut was known as the 'Venice of the East'. I knew a girl about 40yrs ago. She was a hairdresser and had just had to leave Beirut after living there for 5/6 yrs. She said it was absolutely stunning. [so was she, actually].
The explosion disrupted Sam Hammam's poker game!

His interview with Euro News Weekly ends with this:
“I’m thinking of returning to my London home at present until matters improve here but I will never desert my home city, I’m a very proud Lebanese man and proud of my heritage,” he added.
“I also still want my football club back, Cardiff City and that will happen one day, I assure you baby.”
I loved Beirut, fascinating place, the locals were so welcoming
they have had it crap for so long, this could well be the end of the country
it was surreal to see the promenade had been repaired, but the street behind it still have shell holes in them, a Balcony where i guess they had a machine gun was shot to bits
