🤣🤣🤣
It’s been 11 years since I watched Soccer Saturday and it was getting tired then. It was like watching a televised radio show but it had been an enjoyable watch at times because the studio guests were pretty entertaining and relevant to me
All I is see now are occasional clips on Instagram or Twitter. Stelling looks and sounds like a dinosaur... they should have culled the whole lot.
Sky have persevered with Stelling and the format but killed Soccer AM when it was compulsory and relevant viewing when Lovejoy ran the show
I think some of the females are the best prepared. Alex Scott has proven herself to be very good.
Generally, the show runs from midday to 6:00pm on a Saturday. The football's usually on from 3:00pm to 5:00pm of thereabouts. It's not just about watching people watching football at all. It's about seeing the scores come through (and often the goals go in) as they happen, getting reports of what's happening up and down the country in all of the leagues as the action happens, some lively pre-match debates, some really good laughs, some excellent features in the three-hour pre-match segment, etc.
But hey, you knew that anyway.....
Stelling presents and links it up as you well know. He doesn't watch any games solely to give feedback on them. He has previous experience of presenting etc.
Anybody can comment on football, yes.
Being able to pass comment on asubject matter that they know about having personally played and being the best candidate and having the level of expertise required is something else.
In my opinion they should not be anywhere near that position and are being put in positions for reasons other than their ability.
I guess their revamp is partly in anticipation of higher viewing figures this season due to fans not being able to attend matches. Those potential viewers will be more social media savvy and younger, and probably have never seen any of the current panel play football.
Given the choice on a Saturday afternoon you can turn on the bbc and see Jason Mohammad, Garth Crooks and Alex Scott amongst others. Turn on Sky and its like an old boys club.
The change is probably well overdue.
Stelling's excellent and I think his views on the game are spot on as often as not. To my knowledge, he's never played in the Premier League.
Out of interest, approximately how many ex or current professional footballers have you met or do you know? And how many of them do you think would make good pundits?
Those against female commentators/presenters for mens football do you believe Sky should have employed female presenters for the Katie Taylor fight on Saturday.
Do I need to meet two people to know that a person who has played or managed in a league has more experience of the subject matter in comparison to somebody who hasn't?
Do I need to meet anybody to know that a player who has played under top level managers has had hands on experience of tactics in that competition in comparison to the woman's game?
I don't think so. For the same reason I wouldn't think that somebody who rode a bike all their lives knew more about driving a bus than a retired bus driver. Different levels and different sets of skills.
You don't truly believe that a non league level player would be more qualified and a better fit than an ex Premier League player. Being female doesn't change that unless they are shoe horning them in for the sake of it.
only ever watch soccer Saturday for brief moments when I am around mates who have it
Stelling is a good lad , passionate hartlepool fan
Kamara genuinely amusing guy
The rest of them are all cocks
Charlie Nicolas talks out of his arse and Phil Thompson is useless
The show is a load of crap from what I have seen it
And its on sky so bollocks to them all
They did. They had Natasha Jonas.
I think you should get comment from people who know what it is about. As I've said in a contact sport the female version of the sport is almost like a different sport.
How high do you think the women's League champions would get in the men's system given the physical differences?
And I'm not against female pundits. If there is a section about female football and they commented on it then I would feel that they know a lot more about the subject matter.
