Whatever the bar is to be on a celebrity edition, he is certainly above it.
That reminds me of domething I heard on the radio today.

Bette Midler once said, " I have my standards, they're very low, but I do have some!" I think that's brilliant

At least he has achieved something. Many of todays so called celebrities appear to me to be famous just for being famous.
I realise that makes no sense but I don't know how else to describe it.
Most of them have done sweet FA.

that wasnt what i meant though

Being gay doesnt make you different these days, let alone a reason to be a celebrity

I'd say that a top level sportsman coming out as gay does in some way make a person 'different' In a positive way. The difference is ramped up because so few sportsman come out as gay. There's still plenty of Homophobia in sport, not just at fan level but in the boardroom as well. Gareth Thomas may well be a bit of a tool, i've never taken any interest in him, but to say that he's not different or unique is wrong in my opinion.

Fair enough i can see what you mean about him being " different " and i fully agree it was a positive thing

While the above statement will make him a very minor celebrity in Wales and the Rugby world, I am still not sure where he fits into the bigger celebrity world ( even as a Z lister ) and how he can push his celebrity status further

"In tonight's episode (October 25) host Ben Shepard welcomes rugby legend Gareth Thomas, GMB presenter Ranvir Singh and comedian London Hughes."

Gareth Thomas is easily the biggest "celebrity" on this show

It seems that having your name mentioned on TV makes you a "celebrity" these days.

What do you put in your mouth but don’t swallow?

    Woman’s answer..............a cock.

    Hysterics in the studio.

We have definitely seen the " status " watered down alot in recent years, maybe that makes Alfie a celebrity in some peoples eyes, each to their own i guess

Exactly right, it does. So to pick out one guy who has achieved things and is better known than many others on these shows, for whatever reason that may be, is odd.

Another couple of memorable answers on yesterday's programme. One in particular had me gobmacked. A female contestants was asked, " Which is the predominant language spoken in the Middle East?"
    Her answer........Japanese.

I just googled "NFL player strictly come dancing" and I've never heard of him. I doubt many people in the US have. He wouldn't be getting on a game show here.

I saw a clip where the interviewer asked an American contestant to name a country beginning with U. He thought for a while and then gave up. The interviewer asked him if he recognised a country called the United States of America.
You could see the lights starting to come on in his face slowly but he got it

    Makes you wonder

    Is he a limbo dancer?

Disclaimer: I have no idea to whom you are referring to or the colour of his skin.

I can't remember his name sorry, but think he's particularly known in this country for presenting a tv programme about NFL. If you'd like me to try to describe him to you, I'd have to check first on what terms would be acceptable.

Just watched it. Absolutely priceless !

I think both the contestants are going to look back when watching the programme and say, "What on Earth was I thinking about". The young lad must know a dolphin is not a fish so I assume he panicked. The other guy was just a numpty.

Have you noticed that nearly all the airhead young girls have the same specialist subject.........Disney. Speaks volumes really so it's refreshing when you see a young girl on there with a modicum of general knowledge.
