Why?: A combination of Brexit & Customer insistence (BMW, Audi, Mercedes), their contracts stipulate that their products must be made within the EU. As a result the UK facility is being run down, ultimately with the transfer of around 400 jobs plus the hundreds in the supply chain to Poland. I've spent the last 18 months project managing the construction of a new factory and will spend the next two years overseeing the start-up.
What's it like?: Same as any other European country really. The people are great, Catholicism still has a major influence. The language (pronunciation) is tough, the weather's a bit more extreme. Eating out / hotels etc. same cost as UK but supermarket prices are ridiculously low, I've just done my "big" shop for the week, total £24.
