That's right but that's not the statistic that counts. More people voted Tory than Labour. The only way to change that is to change the voting system along the lines of the BREXIT referendum but even then the Tories would be the most likely Party to win. However, Labour supporters shouldn't give up on Labour just yet as the political landscape may well change in 4 years time especially if Johnson remains in post.
I think a big part is that he looks a bit like somebody who might be prime minister and has actually had a proper job, they made a lot of his career and fights for justice during the leadership election and will do so again once covid-19 subsides (crossing those fingers) and we approach the next election.
I'd like to see a non-tory coalition next election and a vote for some kind of electoral change, I don't think a Labour majority would lead to that. Sludge is right, Brexit aside, 2019 was the first election where I think the majority of people voting against something rather than for it, FPTP is responsible. I voted against electoral change the last time we were asked and regret it. People argue that under a different system you wouldn't have elected local representation but I would challenge that they don't really do much for the people that put them there, majority of MPs far more attached to HQ than their local communities now.
As somebody who is still young'ish and therefore not particularly worried about the virus severely impacting me personally, I am pleased to see the rollout going well so that we can move forward.
Not convinced that LOM and others pitting Wales against England is a particularly successful tactic (unless you aren't aware of what has gone on in the south east and london over the past 6-8 weeks). For the first time during the pandemic, my parents who live just north of London are petrified tbh. Happy to concede that the variant has had an effect but when you saw the crowds who were traipsing into London every day to do their Christmas shopping in packed streets and shops with the full backing of number 10, I would suggest that the impact of the variant is being overplayed to cover up for absolutely terrible decision making during that period.
Probably because Labour had just short of a million votes more than the Conservatives.

I hear the middle class are moving to Labour and the working class see the Tories as more in tune with their needs , which might explain the last election result .
The trouble for Labour is their Londoncentric inner City appearance , and I don't think Sir Kier moves that on .
Scotland is a huge issue for Labour if they need a coalition to beat the Tories and the SNP would want a referendum on independence as thats the only ribal policy they have , they sell on that and thier done .
Liberals might link up with Labour if they cull all the ex Corbynistas and move to a Blarite format.
Labour really did mess Scotland and the North up.
At least Wales will remain a socialist haven and utopia, as it has for the last 20 years ,yep we're in safe hands .
