Is Cardiff City's 'potential' an attraction?

    To the next manager.

Crowds averaging 20K in the championship and 30K in the premiership.
For many managers we are a very good option. We don’t have to appoint someone from the “bargain basement”

Pay Cheque every month and a tidy contract. Most people in football don't give a ****.

We are an attractive proposition to out of work managers with no chance of a PL job.

Maybe to a lot of lower league managers.

To attact a decent name theyd want substantial funds. Thats why we are not in the least bit an attractive option to the likes of Eddie Howe.

Not sure I agree with that point given their points deduction this season.

Their fan base is probably top 10 in the country however.

Re: Is Cardiff City's 'potential' an attraction?

Of course Cardiff City is an attraction.

There are a handful of unemployed managers who can afford to pick and choose and wait for the plumest job (Howe may be one) but most good managers will look at Cardiff - stadium, financial backing, twice in Premier League in last decade, size of fan base - and see a major attraction.

Any worth their salt, with self belief, should expect to push for promotion in the next year or two.

Whether Cardiff is an attraction or not the job certainly is. £300-£500k pa possibly, any manager would be interested, unless they are rich enough not to want it.

Most on this board assume that Howe would not be interested in taking over because of upcoming opportunities in the Prem.

I would trust Eddie Howe to turn things round, without having to spend a lot of money.

There are 92 professional league clubs in English football, that means there's 92 jobs for most managers. We're one of the top 30 jobs in the country. Cardiff are a big club, with a big stadium and they'll get paid well.

Wednesday's owner is absolutely crackers and hasn't paid players on time, that's why they've not appointed anyone.

over the last decade its been great, our profile has been greatly raised , okay we just haven't capitalised, or managed our promotions very well, any decent manger would be attracted to us, and to be fair the owner has a history of long term investment

One would think so. But it is somewhat of an outpost. You'd have to move there, which to me is no bad thing. But maybe not for everyone. For example, look at the clubs you could manage if you lived in or around Manchester.

Re: Is Cardiff City's 'potential' an attraction?

This is down to Tan et al to sell the job. If Tan really wanted someone and was prepared to make them a few promises, I'm sure we could almost anyone currently available.

All comes down to money, in wages and what they will be backed with which is why Howe is a crazy shout.

Think we need owners who know what they are doing.....Tan might have the cash but can’t find a decent CEO for love or money.

Add in that the Championship is bigger than half the European leagues we should be attracting applications from all over.

Have a good season or two and you can go onto bigger and better.

Look at people who have managed the Jacks.

Should you be looking further afield for your manager? Up and coming managers in Europe?
