decent player, good for a free.
I wonder if we are looking at him as a left winger or a left wing back. I would guess the latter, but we need both.

Us and Watford looking to sign him on a free transfer this summer according to this.
Good player at this level, but I notice he's spent a lot of time on the subs bench at Sheffield Wednesday this season;-

He's always looked good to me. It may well juts be paper talk though. But we don't know how Bennett will come back from his injury or whether the club want to keep him. It'll probably be decided by the wage structure.
Given what is looking like an increasingly certain relegation for Wednesday, I'd say Reach is the sort of player who would not drop down to League One with them even if he was under contract - there would be interest in him because he has shown throughout his career that he is better than the third tier. I'd say there are going to be considerably more clubs after him than just us and Watford if he isn't going to sign a contract with Wednesday and I think you might well be right about when you suggest our wage structure may not be able to accommodate him.
Paul, I was thinking more of the wage structure around Bennett. We obviously don't know how much he is on, but he has been with us for over 4 years and had PL wages at one point. So offloading Bennett and taking on Reach might actually help our budget. I know the club pays very well on wages, but that may have to change next season without the parachute payment, unless Mr tan digs even deeper in to his funds?
I'd want to give Bennett at least a one year deal following his injury, he'll have been here five years this summer and has been a good servant to the club - I'd also say he's the best we've had in his position this century. Also, he'll be thirty one soon in just over a fortnight, whereas Reach has only just turned twenty eight - I'd say that would mean a contract for Reach would cost more than one for Bennett.
Call me cold hearted, but I wouldn't want us to offer Bennett a new deal - money will be tight, and can we really afford to use a chunk of it on a player who won't be able to play half the next season?
We would sill need 2 left backs / left wing backs to cover the first half of the season, and then we'd be left with 3 for the run in - it just doesn't make any sense to me.
Bennett has been the best left back in a long long time, and we will struggle to replace him, but we need to be sensible
there are a few other useful players out of contract:
Steve cook, the other Bacuna, Britt assombalonga, Alex Pritchard, nick Powell, Alex mowett, emiliano marcondes, Omar Richards.
Ok, cold hearted.
I would give JB a two-year contract, as he has been such a loyal servant to the club. Remember when he turned down a big move to Fulham, as he preferred to stay with us?
We need to look after players who have injuries when they are playing for us, as it's the decent thing to do.
I don't think I would have given him a 2 year contract even without the injury.
yes he's been excellent but he's 31 now, stick another 2 years in that and he is likely to be in decline and probably picking up more injuries. you don't see Many 33 year old wing backs, it is a young man's game
Isn't he out of our reach ?
