Sorry, forgot all about the important things like that.

Minor charge as well, attending a demonstration in London and giving an interview to BBC 12 years ago. Probably will only get another 5 years.

And they shouldn’t be forgotten, unfortunately they have been neglected/forgotten as well. It seems that their lives are worthless in the greater view of things.

Do we have any prisoners in the UK who are from other countries?

I'm not justifying Iran, but surely we must accept that they have different laws, and if those laws have been broken then there will be punishment.

and before anyone criticises, we have no idea if laws have been broken or not.

just heard on the radio that apparently we owe Iran 400 million quid, and this poor lady is being used as a pawn to get us to pay up.

of course Iran should have followed the usual protocol of donating the Tory party a few thousand quid and then being awarded a contract for PPE for half a billion quid

    Re: Nazannin Ratcliffe

No one going to mention that Boris Johnson's factually inaccurate quote was used as evidence against her and he's yet to apologise or own his mistake?

His defence being that Iran were determined to imprison her anyway and therefore him not being on top of the facts and saying something which appears to have made her situation much worse doesn't need to be reckoned with, at least not as publicly as the original statement. But of course it's just another thing he won't apologise for.

Your right they have others from other countries, and trade them for deals , I'm guessing if we paid up for the tanks she'd be free , think mits called "hostage diplomacy". BBC reports she was told that her imprisonment was linked to a £400m debt owed by Britain for an arms deal to Iran that was done before she was even born.

Dreadful regime, who have no respect for any woman .

I'm guessing the more you engage with them via UK or UN diplomats it
worsens the situation, perhaps a low key approach by the UK may see her release ??

What we don't know about are the back channel chats.

This is old news - the government ( who I didn’t vote for by the way) have been having dialogue with Iran so it’s easy to point the finger and blame from the armchair.
