Remember the big fuss over his Levi advert, how times have changed as you say very young
At a time when Levi's sales were flagging, Nick Kamen helped fire one of, perhaps THE most successful advertising campaigns ever.
RIP
You need to do more research.
After the advertisement campaign, sales of Levi jeans rocketed by 800% - that's massively impressive, is it not?
In a 2000 poll it was voted the fourth best ad of all time and 'Campaign Magazine' voted it THE best ad' of the last 50 years.
The 50's America scene, coupled with Marvin Gaye's classic 'Grapevine' and the not so insignificant part of Nick Kamen, all ensured this WAS a hugely successful advertising campaign.
So successful in fact, the advert was prematurely pulled from TV because Levi couldn't meet demand - they didn't have the global factory capacity that they do these days.
Slightly different take on it (although not authoritative) from https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2021/05/0...rt-nick-kamen/
"Campaign magazine’s Rick Brim stated that the advert “defined a generation” and named it one of the best adverts in 50 years."

“The ostensible star of that one was model/singer Nick Kamen, who removes his 501s in an old-fashioned laundrette full of interested women. He achieved instant, though brief, fame, but it was Heard It Through the Grapevine’s evocation of simmering jealousy that gave the ad its memorable steaminess. (In fact, it wasn’t Gaye singing, but a soundalike session singer.) Levi’s fortunes had been drooping, but*sales of 501s*increased suddenly by 800%, and the re-released single returned to the UK chart for the first time since 1969, reaching No 8”.

“And it was, propelling sales of Levi's 501 jeans up 800% to a point where demand outstripped supply..”

“Critics agreed. “It defined a generation,” wrote Campaign magazine’s Rick Brim in 2018, naming it one of the best ads in 50 years”.
“Laundrette captured the feeling and spirit of an age, becoming a cultural touchstone of the decade that was instantly recognizable to young Europeans. “It was a piece of magic,” Hegarty boasted”.
And finally, a little closer to home for you, taken from the New York Post....

“The ad led to a huge boost in sales for Levi’s and came forth in a countdown of the 100 greatest ads of all time”.

Bit of a reminisce off the top of my head there...sorry
You’re never alone with a Strand. Cigarette advert from the 60’s, which actually doomed the brand.
