I sell New Vans and there is a massive shortage there and getting worse.
It’s a combination of Covid (restrictions in flow and production supply)
Ships getting stuck in Egypt.
Brexit hasn’t helped as some manufacturers stopped production to the U.K. as per the uncertainty in tariffs at the time still having a knock on effect.
Business with 0% bounce back loans on business purchases, making vehicles, plant and machinery purchases attractive.
Courier and postal industry booming as per the obvious.
ULEZ and Clean air zones around the country and EU growing in size and getting more expensive to drive old and more polluting vehicles and forcing them off the road.
Now there are manufacturers shutting factories, because of a Semi conductor shortage leading to 4-6 moves addition lead times.
Some manufacturers stating 2022 for specialist Vans such as Chassis, Tipper, Dropside, Fridge Luton’s etc.
In effect demand has rocketed with builders and DIY because in many cases people have had time on their hands and surplus money from not being able to go out and on holiday.
All this is pushing up the price of used Vans and I have seen used ones fetching £2/3k more than pre lockdown.
