      Re: The modern world

The most worrying thing is the fact that anyone would want a Weatherspoons app.

Exactly. All this bashing new technology is basically resisting the evolution of society. 2 years is very quick for technology.

And also, people use phones and TVs etc for many years now. In fact, the phone market isn’t as strong as it was because people are holding onto their phones! Also iirc, the car market has declined as well recently.

The quote sums it up perfectly… people keep moaning about a changing society and it is clichéd

Nothing wrong with Spoons. I've been grateful to it to be honest - one of the only places near my office where I've got any chance of getting a table for a drink after work because they don't do reservations.

The Wetherspoons app is probably the best thing in the last decade

It's a young person's thing mostly, no different to wanting the latest pair of football boots or ox blood loafers.

I say "mostly", as once you've had a taster there's no going back.

Loved my old Nokia 7310 (was it?) back in 2002. Tiny thing, all you could wish for.
Tried Googling something and it was feckin useless!

That is quite whitty however, try getting served without one.
A whole heap of hassle, if at all!

Best match I've ever seen!

It's just a shame the company's owner is a complete and utter wankspangle.

You should get up to date with the latest trends, Sludge you seem to be stuck in the 00’s. Obviously you are a one off.

Money makes the world go round, as the song goes.
We are in a situation where if we all stopped buying stuff, the world would be in deep sh*t pretty quickly. But we don't.
Phones are a separate issue, I think - if you want to run apps, then you need a newish phone.
No one is making you buy the latest car or tv - people do it because they want to.

More to the point, Greece beat Germany 1-0, with a late goal from Socrates !

I want the latest upgraded shimano catana spinning rod

But a rod I bought ten years ago is still going strong

Most of what we are buying these days comes from China

Which is fine as its cheap for us over here

But very bad news for the planet as they are burning fuel like Satan

Money may make the world go round but one day there won't be a world if we keep on going like we are

I agree. I know some people who have to have the latest Cardiff City team shirt. They buy one EVERY year. Nuts really
